Feeder fish question

Is it okay to give feeder minnows to a baby garter? I know that goldfish are a source of the thiamese(spelling?)enzyme, so I normally give it guppies. But because of circumstances, I couldn't get any tonight and ended up buying minnows.

Those are what I feed my freshly born babies and they can't get enough of them and seem quite healthy and active. But I suggest also trying night crawler pieces to give their digestive system a diversity of materials for the growth process.
