Our first beardies

becky2731 Aug 22, 2006 09:03 AM

These our the first pictures ofour first bearded dragons. We bought them at the All Pittsburg Reptile Show. They are so cool; much more relaxed then the leopard geckos that I'm used to.

Oh my, those are so tiny, are they at least 6 inches yet?

Please make sure their set up is perfect, as ones this small can really have problems if things are not set up right, you can lose them fast and also the stress levels need to be kept low to avoid parasite blooms. Temps should be (95-110F) overhead heat source, they need a good uvb source, substrate (nothing they can eat, never calcisand or Lizard litter-walnet crushed shells)and insects (crickets no bigger than the space between their eyes and no mealworms or other chitin shelled worms) silks or other soft worms are okay.

Once they are 0ver 8 inches they are not so fragile. Watch hydration as they can also dehydrate very fast when this small.

Good luck with them, please post or email if you run into problems or they stop/slow eating.

I did a ton a research before I bought my beardies. I read a bunch of care sheets, talked to breeders, and read everything on this forum. I had their set up ready for 4 days before we brought them home. Our girl is 7 in and our boy is 6in. Their tepms are consistant and they are eating just fine. If I do have any questions I'll be sure to post them on here.
Thanks,
Becky
