Are these Amel Motley?Amel Mot. Striped?

fsr Aug 22, 2006 01:25 PM

I bred a pair of Amelanistic Milksnake Phase Corns (from Serpenco) and three of the babies have an odd appearance.
They have no belly pattern at all and just a thin stripe on each side. One snake has almost a full stripe on top.....but it's kinda choppy.....not a perfect stripe like the genetic striped corns.
My research leads me to believe that the Motley gene is causing this striping pattern on the corns pictured here.
Does this seem correct to you all??
What would these snakes be named??
-Amelanistic Motley?
-Amelanistic Motley Striped?

Thanks for your help.

Motley and striped often come out of the same clutch. Neither morph characteristically has any belly pattern. It looks like both corns pictured would be considered "motley." The top one has a "stretched out" pattern that looks somewhat like a striped, but I'd call it a motley, as I would the corn in the second photo.

They certainly aren't "classic" looking motleys. Maybe it's time we coin the phrase "aberrant motley." At any rate, those are some pretty cool looking babies.
