Val Verde lepidus giving birth

lepidus-klauberi Aug 22, 2006 07:27 PM

I shared this on the general venomous forum, so I thought I would share it here. This is my Val Verde County lepidus giving birth to 1 of 6 healthy babies. I stayed up all night watching and photographing, as well as taking notes. It was well worth the long night! Hope you all enjoy. I will post pics after the first shed. I also wanted to share my gratitude to Tim Cole for taking me on a wonderful lepidus trip throughout western Texas. Tim is one of the kindest and most trustworthy friends I have ever met. He is a great ambassador for the venomous community. Thanks Tim !

seeing the births are GREAT! I got to watch my Nor Pacs give birth this year too. Just like last year, the male was breading with them only hours afterwards! ...Congrats!

I don't know if you have bred these guys before, but if you enjoyed watching her give birth, leave her, dad and all the babies together for awhile.... The social and parental care behavior you can observe is amazing if you watch carefully for it. Good luck.
