Cage Aggression?

renland Aug 23, 2006 06:59 PM

One of my baby bps is housed in a 20L glass aquarium, the others are in rubbermaid bins. Percy, the one housed in the glass tank, is very agressive when he is out from under his hide and sees me--striking at me through the glass and constantly tail rattling. The thing is, he is good when I take him out of his tank and am handling him (He's very head shy, though). Is there such a thing as balls being cage/territory aggressive? Or is Percy just throwing little hissy fits? Thanks in advance.

is he fed in his cage?

He probably just sees movement vaguely through the glass and is striking at the movement because he is scared, or he thinks it's food. It's just in his instinct because he can't flee anywhere else but the aquarium.

Could be under a lot of stress. You say he's in an aquarium, that doesn't leave them feeling too secure, especially in a high traffic area.

Never seen a ball shake it's tail, that would be cool. Kinda like a pissed off puppy.

Lol, I guess that I own a "pissed off puppy" of sorts. Serves me right for naming him Percy from Harry Potter--he really was a git.

No, Percy is not fed in his tank. I feed all of my snakes (bps and corns) in individual shoe boxes. Thanks.
