HELP!!got a frog & don't know what to do

mumma Aug 23, 2006 11:40 PM

Hi, I need some advice on a frog/toad, not sure , don't know the difference. I took my kids to the local fish hatchery today to let them pick some new gold fish from the outdoor ponds. 3/4 into the 35 min trip home my oldest informed me that there was a frog in the fish bag. We would really like to keep it but not sure where to start. For now I have put it in our empty 5 gallon tank. I put a small saucer of water in it so it can get wet. It seems content but KNOW WHAT!!!!PLEASE HELP!!!

first off calm down. the best thing to do would be to release it where you found it, if a species breeds somewhere it means there are some adult species living there. how big is it? one of the most noticible differences in frogs and toads is thieir skin. toads have bumpy skin and frogs usually have smooth skin. you can go to the library and get an identification guide on the different types of amphibians in your area. for the moment make sure it has a water dish and food. you can buy crickets or catch bugs from outside. contact me if you have any more questions.
