I haven't read either book, but I have heard from at least 4 people who have both books that Barker's book is pretty amazing.

I think it is great that so many people have taken the time to write books on herps.

The industry needs all the educational input it can get.

20 years ago, breeding Balls was almost unheard of.

I saw a Pied Ball for 3K and thought "Interesting, but WTF am I gonna do with it"

Duhhhh!!!!!

That is right, the first big book to put a pic of the Ember or Mojave cross morph will be the book I buy. So what if it sounds like bribery

Prove your animals out and maybe someone will put it in a book. But until you figure out the genentics you won't be seeing print of your animals.

First of all I was kidding. Second, they have been proven genetic, we just do not know to what extent. I WAS KIDDING, GET A GRIP.

joshhutto Aug 24, 2006 04:45 PM

I didn't say prove it genetic, I said prove it out. That means completely. Heck for all you know those snakes are already in the book under already proven out lines. That is why it's important to prove out lines before naming them or marketing them, no-one knows what they really are.

Josh, they might be a known morph, and if they are, then the Ember is just my line of (insert morph name here). What is so bad about that? I have not even put any of the Mojave cross/Pastel cross animals up for sale, so I think you need to check yourself, and turn you "feelings" towards those who are selling WC/CH animals as morphs, 9 hours after they got them from the importer. I have spent two years proving these out as Doms, and when I have been contacted about them, I have been MORE than upfront about them. What we know, what we do not know, what we still have to prove out....let me ask you something...was the first Pastel sold before a Super was known...what about the Mojave? Are you going to say that every morph has to go through a set number of breedings before you can actually sell one? Again, I think you need to check yourself, and if you have an issue, call me or email me, and let's talk about it. Better yet, come take a look at them in person at Anahiem.

For sure if I can get GOOD pictures from you!

I need pictures that show these snakes as they are.....

I am doing the German & French versions taht will have tons of additions to say the least.

I would love to put your snakes in there but I need some solid posed pictures not taken in the sun!

I know you have something cool!!!

Does this book give useful care and breeding tips that are not available somewhere else? Or , is this one of those "look at my new morphs" kind of book.. Details please!!!

I do have the dvd's from VPI. One on ball's and one on boas. There is an excessive, unnecessary amount of slobbering over morphs. Don't get me wrong I love to slobber over pics, but don't want to pay for some ones adverting.

And these folks have put a ton of dedication, talent, passion, and money into presenting these books for our reading (and looking) pleasure. You can't go wrong with both of them!

BackBeat Aug 25, 2006 08:02 AM

WHAT two morphs did you cross to make that crazy looking snake in the photo???

That thing is phat, like the kids say.

I do not think that kevins book is in the same class as the barkers book. The only things that they share is the subject matter. The Barkers book is a thousand times more in depth across the board. No offense to Kevin his book is OK but you really should not compare the two. You must buy the Barkers book even if you have Kevins.

Just my opinion Ryan Young
