Recommended or not?

Should it be wet to feed smaller tortoises?

You'll get all sorts of answers on that one, most likely that it's ok in moderation as long as it's not the tort's main diet.

I just wanted to share my use of it as an easy way to add calcium to the diet. I mush a little bit up with water and mix it with calcium dust until it becomes a solid paste, then I feed it to my Hermanns. This is done in addition to her regular greens/hibiscus/dandelion diet. She happily eats it and this way I know she's getting plenty of calcium.

I use it, alternating with fresh greens and hey

All of mine love it. I always soak it until it gets soft but once in a while will give a few dry pieces to the larger Russian & Hermanns. It keeps 'em occupied for a while & is fun to watch.

Some might hate me: but i love the stuff. I think it is great. I feed it moist as a staple diet to hatchling sulcatas and leopards. The added protein helps a lot to firm their shells etc. And yes, everything needs protein in moderation.

I do think it needs to be pointed out that the protien content of Mazuri is not very high. The fiber contentent is much higher if you consider the various fiber it contains.
