At the Daytona show I was told that I needed to check to see if the Albino Sonorans I purchased were from Envy stock because if they were not then they were not compatible with Envy stock. Meaning they would produce doubel hets when bred to an Envy Albino Sonoran. I was wondering if this were true or myth.

Also, I purchased a Stillwater Hypo Bull and a regular Hypo Bull. I was told that these too would only produce hets when bred. I asked many, many breeders about this and about a third did not know, a third said it was true, and a third said it was not true. I was wondering if anyone here on the forum has done this cross to see if they are compatible.

In the end I traded the normnal hypo and some cash for another Stillwater Hypo. Crazy Fools reptiles was nice enough to accomodate me. Thanks again Sott Crumbly!

For sure on the stillwaters.You would only get normal looking babies if bred to the generic hypo strain.Good move getting another hypo stillwater.
On the sonoran its hard to say because theres a couple starins and some are co-dom.This meens that it will show in the first generation.Jason will probably see this and answer more on it.

See my post below about amel Sonorans. I had never run into it until this year and we've been breeding Sonorans for years.

over a 11 year span and 100 babies I produced 9 normal looking applegate babies and 93 albinos out of two albinos that were direct from bob with no outside influence.Go figure.

Hmm, yeah, that's almost what this seems like. I don't know how that's possible, but I guess it's happened before. I don't know enough about the actual physical workings of alleles/chromosomes to guess, but maybe something weird can happen. In this case though, about half of them are normal, so that seems unlikely. Beats me...

Envy stock are actually Hybinos due to the co dom Hypo in that line. They're not compatible with the other strain of Amel which seems to have a lot more red in its color scheme. Breeding an Envy Hybino to the other normal Albino creates double hets for both strains of Amel, and they'd also be possible het for the other Envy traits if I am not mistaken.......those being Hypo, Ghost and Blizzard.
