veiled Chameleon

sbsshadow May 20, 2003 10:42 AM

I have a veiled female chameleon in a all mesh viv I want to convert the top half of my study (already at 85 degrees because of tarantulas in there) I would put the UV bulbs on the ceiling and also the basking light... I want to set up lots of FICUS plants in there with vines between them.

can anybody see any problems with this ??

any help appreciated.

The only thing I wonder about is whether there will be a drop in temp at night. Chams do need a 10-15 degree temp drop and NO visible light at night. If you use the study late at night it could bother her. Other than that and being able to keep the humidity high enough sounds nice.

Hi- sounds good, but the fluorescent UVB will only penetrate 10-12" down, so you will have to go with a UVB/heat all in one mercury vapor bulb 100w. Also you will need to provide a drop in temp at night, and make sure there are no other lights on all night in the same area as your chameleon, because this can stress her out, ever red light, they can see all colors! Hope this helps!
