What will I get..

Amanda_D Aug 24, 2006 01:17 PM

What will I get if I breed a lavender albino banded slightly abberant male king to female albino banana king?

I know this is not a species hybrid, just a morph cross but I thought this would be a good place to find out.

Also:
Any tricking nessessary to get a king and a nelson to cross?

Lavender Albino (T positive) bred to Red eyed Albino (T negative) should give you all"normal" Cali kings that are double het for both strains of albino.

now i said "should give you" because this breeding has been done and the offsping appear Hypo (reduced black) the breeder 2x het male has ruby eyes, i'm not sure if that would be the case if u repeat that breeding.

i'm not sure about the cali X nelsoni cross, but if Cali X Sinaloan has been done i'm sure it's possible.

My trick, and I am sure many others, is to get your Male snake excited by placing him with Female of his species for a bit...and then making the switch. You need to be quick, but this works well. Also, placing the Male in the vacant "Dirty" cage of same female - with maybe a small amount of feces or shed - with the Female of the other species you are trying to cross. No, I didnt make up these tricks, heard them from others that are successfull with Hybrids.

Good Luck!!

Thanks for the input, I am a beginner breeder and welcome any info you share.

Your picture looks a great deal like my male. My male is a lighter lavender thow.

If I get "normals" does that mean that they will be banded and het for the banana pattern?

"Banana" is not a recessive trait... Animals were selectively bred for that look, if u have a striped and a banded pair your babies will be aberrant, i've seen stripes from banded adults and banded from striped adults, cali kings have been messed with alot for weird patterns so there is no tellign what you'll produce when you bred two captive bred adults together.

As I am just starting as a breeder my colleny currently consists of 2 albino banana king females and 1 banded lavender male. It looks like my male will not be big enough to breed this spring.

However I may borrow my sister's male nelson or male corn, both albino.

I have had a ball python for 14 years, but he can't get involved in the breeding til I get another ball.

hi amanda
if you do decied to try to cross you should have access to a pair of each, you will need to get the female of one receptive and the male of the other ready aswell before doing the swap.
i can be easy or a nightmare, never leave them alone to get on with it.
Persistance is the way.
