my 5 month old just downed its first hopper yesterday. It seemed to have no problem doing it, so I think I may just keep feeding it hoppers instead of pinks.

any thoughts?

Sure, if a hopper was no problem then feed it hoppers. My two rules of thumb for meal size are
1) If the snake can swallow it in less than 5 minutes the meal is too small
2) If it takes more than 15 minutes to swallow, the meal is larger than necessary.
These rules assumes a weekly (or thereabouts) feeding of a single item.

My other rule is switch them to rats as soon as possible. A rat fuzzy is better than a hopper mouse.

Of course, none of these rules are rules at all, just one person's preference.

5 minutes? Mine take less time than that to down a large adult mouse but I'm not moving her up in size. She has a decent bulge afterward. Guess mine is just an orca! May I have another please? Just put it in here!
