The Ultimate Visual Pied Het??

dwherp Aug 04, 2003 02:35 PM

This girl hatched yesterday in a clutch of Piebald Hets (father is a Piebald and mother is normal - at least phenotypically). The other 6 babies are normally colored and patterned. She appears to be displaying a preview of coming attractions by showing a small band of piebald-like clean white and pumpkin orange. I've seen lots of ringers but none that look like this.

I'd love to hear from anyone who seen anything similar or who may have some insight into what may be going on here.

Thanks for looking,
Dan

I have a real dark looking 66% het male. And some 50% males that are dark too. But that seems to have a lot of white. Very interesting to say the least. Perhaps a closer look of the white area. Maybe a low white pied?

If the white area is just near the vent its MOST LIKELY just a ringer, but a NICE ringer. I collect A LOT of ringers and I would say about 99.9% that its just a ringer.

It's not JUST A RINGER...it is 100% het pie as well.

I have produced a few "Ringer" het pieds over the past couple years............it's a bonus!!...........I think "Ringers" can happen in any mutation...............very nice Ringer too.

Can you post a belly shot? I'm interested in seeing if the belly is mostly white with dark striping at the edges and if that striping connects to the black around the ring or if the black around the ring is completely separate dorsal pattern.

Here is a pic of a keeper female I hatched out of a 50% chance het piebald.
