Want my first Bearded...question

bakeaway Aug 24, 2006 08:02 PM

Hey, I have 6 snakes and have only ever had an iquana as a pet. I am wanting to get a bearded and have read alot on them.
I was wondering if using a Powersun bulb is enough for both heat and UV for the bearded. Or should I use a flourescent and a ceramic heater.
Thanks

I keep my beardie in a 75 gallon tank and use a t-rex 100 watt uv/heat lamp and a 150 watt ceramic heater to reach daytime basking temps. Im in the process of getting a day/night thermostat to regulate temps. It comes down to a matter of choice and needs also price. Depending on your size enclosure you might need a different setup. Also some people dont like the mercury vapor bulbs. So you might want to do a little research first. My 100watt mercury vapor bulb has to be a min 18 inches alway from basking spot and they cost a bit more than regular basking bulbs or uv but last alot longer. Ill try to put up some pics if I can Good luck.
