What age should I use sand?

sunflowerdragons Aug 25, 2006 06:48 PM

Can anyone tell me what age I should start using sand? (I would use the kind that wouldn't effect them if they ate it by mistake)
Thank you.

Typically the standard time to start using washed children's playsand is when the dragon is at least 10" long. Personally I think its best not to use any kind of loose substrate as even washed play sand has its own risk of impaction, though not as bad as the calcium based sands or crushed walnut.
