Ok, this was all copy and pasted. I come from Fauna. They answer all my questions in anyother forum except for the Gecko one, and I want to help my Gexie. Any info you can give will be GREATLY appreciated! Thank You! I'm not positive on how old he is. We bought him this last April and we could tell he was still a Juvi from the bands which are now almost faded. I have heard him click many a times at me, and this isn't clicking. This is chirping. I thought I was crazy at first. The chirping seems to be coming out of his "ear holes." Whatever those holes in the head are. He does it more when I pick him up, and have only heard him do it without me having to hold him the first day I noticed this noise. I then learned later that night it was him. I can't say I wouldn't be surprised if it was an early upper infection.

I feel bad. I thought I was fine keeping my apartment in the low 80's until we bought the Rats in June and we put it down to 78 in the apartment. I guess I kinda figured it would be alright until I bought an uth before fall. Well he has heat now and still chips when I pick him up sometimes. I only hear this at night also. Pick him up in the day and hes fine. He never goes on the kool side anymore, just sits on the warm side and soaks it up.

I have been looking up a lot though and am confused because like I said everything else is PERFECT. Poops are perfect, perfect sheds, perfect eater, behavior and activity are the same. Skin, mouth, nostrils, toes, and tail all look good. I read that with a respiratory infection most of the time mucus is involved, bubbly stuff. I see nothing. I was thinking about trying to look up audios of Leopard Gecko noises on the net to see if I can find a similar sound. I am going to the Cleveland Zoo the 27th also and plan on trying to DIG for info on the creatures I have. If theres anything I'm good at its being inquisitive! If there are any health problems with any of my babies its internal and not coming out in poop or any other form. Has anybody else heard a Leo chirp?? Anybody else gone through a respiratory infection?? If so info and advice is greatly appreciated!! Thank You!

Hello! Well I went to the pet store today and got all kinds of stuff! I got a way bigger cricket keeper with more floor space for my Scorpion, which definatley works because the one hes in now will be the baby cricket tank. We had success breeding them before and got pinheads but had nowhere to put them and HAD to clean out the tank so they were sacrificed. Oh well we can keep them now which is considerabley good because Gexie just went the last two days without eating. Thats the first time thats happened and enough for me!

Not having a car sucks and then my friends not being a Reptile person like me said feed him wild crickets which I do NOT do. Just because thats free food for my Tarantula doesn't mean the same rules apply for Gexie. We also found out that Tophatcrickets sells 500 for 15 shipping included and that will be next week. For now while at the pet store today I bought 100. I also got some T-Rex gutloader.

I got Ermac the Tarantula a big log and bigger water bowl. I got some more "proper" heating for Gexie to but after I tell you can you tell me if I did this right?? Three reasons they didn't have "heat" when I first bought them. 1.It was summer, apartment kept at 80's. 2.Low on money, but had some today! 3.I am electrically challenged and I had nobody to show me but the pet store chick. So I got Gexie a 5.5" Flukers daytime basking light with a 50watt bulb. Some way better thermometers and humidity gauges to! So is the heating right??? I know I don't have anything for night, but will be getting that next. I figured maybe I could buy the night bulb and switch them at night? Is that possible? Are the bulbs in the same heating piece? For now Gexie isn't getting both the light and the heating pad, but IS it ok to have both or one or the other??

I am going to run experiments within the next few days to see what temp the light is kept at and where his heating pad temps get to. Also going to put the light on different sides of the tank. One side its under his ceramic rock and I am wondering if it will get to hot?? The other side under his log. Is that a fire hazard or anything?? Do I need a Rheostat for his stuff. I didn't see any at the pet store but this was my first day pet store researching the heat. My friend kept trying to rush me to. Otherwise I've researched online.

This lady at the pet store said she had two Geckos for over a year now. Two Ball Pythons, seven Rats, and a Betta(we laughed about that) to. She set me up how she was set up except for the night stuff. Anyhow, she said her Snakes got an upper respiratory when I asked her if shes been through it before and she said she put human Vicks you rub on your chest on the top of their tank where they couldn't lick it but could smell it and said it was gone after three days. Can I try this for Gexie?? Can I try the gatorade to?? I can either use the dropper I bought at the flea market today or put a teaspoon in his water dish? Can I also use the ingredients from Marcia's slurry like the herbal supplement seperatley?? Whoa! Its been a LONG day I think I'm going to give the crickets a couple orange pieces with dust rubbed on and then hit the sack! Sorry for all of the questions but I am trying to learn. Thank you for your patience!

Ok. Not quite sure what your question is? Are you worried about URI? If that's the case try posting on the general leopard gecko forum and not the health forum. Most people don't really come to the little sub-groups. Just some helpful info so that you can get more replies. Second, I'm no expert but it just sounds like a new sound your gecko decided to make for you. From what I hear some will hiss, some will chirp, some will squeak and others just make some strange noises. I can't remember how old you said he is but if he is over a year he may even be trying to call for a mate. Just my opinion. If there are no real sickness signs other that the strange noise I would say it's not a sick problem just behavior.

Yes, I agree that this is PROBABLY normal behavior. I get that chirp out of my geckos if they happen to be in the humid hide box when I spray it. And when I bought my first leo, one of the geckos in her cage chirped at the Petco guy when he tried to catch it. Hope that helps!
