My first clutch of pastels are crawling out today, and there are five out of six!The sire is a really pale yellow Bell line male.

This one wanted to go back in

Thanks Quig.
These guys have such a "fight or flight" instinct at first that it is tough to sex them out of the egg. (2.2 pastels and .1 normal so far, with one pastel yet to crawl out.)

Your the man!

So far every single viable egg has hatched...Eleven last year, and Thirty one this year!...yep 42 eggs, and none gone bad!

We don't need no stinking vermiculite. ;p

if it wasn't for my expert advise, you would have surely lost one or two during that period. I think if you send me one of those pastels, I'll call it even.........

coldthumb Aug 26, 2006 05:51 PM

How about half a dozen 50% het albino males instead?

Watch the karma start to go downhill now.(I'll probably wind up getting a nice high end male and get all non-viable eggs from here on out.)

Seriously folks, listen to the man...no-sub...This is how you do it!

hmm....6 - 50% het albino males...I think I'll pass. I've been giving all those I produce to the pet store for 35 bucks store credit each, or basically giving them away when someone buys something else from me. I've got two big girls that I did not breed last year that I will be breeding to a buddy's pastel this season. The previous year, I got 11 and 9 eggs respectively from these girls. After the year off I'm thinking 12 viable eggs from each. With Charles odds, I should get 20 pastels from them.........Not holding my breath; I'd be OK with 10....

Hey,

Nice pastels how much do you plan to sale your males for? If that one you are holding in the first pic is a male let me know. I would love to see pics of the dad as well if you have the time. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks

Thanks Dave.

This last one was a female, and ultra pale like the first one.Which incidentally turned out to be a boy.So the final count was 3.2 pastel and one normal girl, but i'm not complaining.

good luck everybody
