Here are the cage specs:
Cage is 6'L X 2.5'D X 3' H
Helix Supersystem for heating and lighting with sunrise and sunset light dimming
Overheat Programming module and fan
temperature night drop
2 160 watt basking lights one on each end (at some point will be changed to powersuns)
2 48" verilux UVB flourescents
1 250 Watt CHE

More logs are going to be added to the cage do that the dragons can get closer to the lighting but haven't found some good pieces of wood to achieve it. This cage was built for someone else and so she is going to be looking after the interior cage layout

Let me know what you think

OMG!!! That is a beautiful cage!!! You did a fabulous job!! I hope your customer is as in love w/it as I am. It's breath taking, stunning, etc, etc.

What did you use for the sunrise/sunset dimming?

Congrats on finishing it, it must have taken a while.

The probe for the basking spot needs to be down AT the basking spot. It helps to take a staple gun and staple it down to a perch, in the hottest spot, so you can tell what the temp is WHERE the dragons are....

cornelius85 May 20, 2003 11:25 AM

The probe is for thehelix. It needs to keep the ambient temperature of the cage up, so it does need to be lower in the cage, but not in direct contact with the basking temps.

wow looks wonderful. Great idea for the little fan. I might have to go that route with my melamime tanks. I like to use mercury vapor bulbs, and the cages just hold the heat so much. I already have two 3 X 8 vents on each side. Did you have to wire it yourself or do they come with the plugs?

I love your set up. My husband recently built a cage that I designed and we included a small computer fan that is connected to a thermostat. When the cage gets to a certain temp, the fan kicks on to suck out the hot air. I had a really hard time finding the right equipment that would do the job I wanted. My question for you is what equipment are you using, how much did it cost, and where do you find it?

Thanks!

Veronica

Everything is working off of a Helix supersystem. It controls the temps and if the temp exceeds the set tomp of 122 degrees, the system shuts down and the fan kicks on until the temps are down at normal levels.

The system is $233.00 US, the program module is $48, and the fan all wired up is $38.00

This controller is in my opinion the best out there, but pretty expensive

Just use one mercury vapor and leave it on all day, and use the second heat bulb with the thermostat, works great, that's what I do for my cages.

The Mercury Bulbs would not be running on a thermostat. They would be running off of contrant onm/off temperature.
