Eastern milks needs

frogLeggs2 Aug 26, 2006 06:37 PM

We now have our hatchling milks out of the egg and in separate containers, however, we dont know what kind of environmental needs baby milks have. tips on moisture, drinking water, and temperature would be greatly appreciated. any words on beginning foods would also be welcome. we are brand new to the breeding expierience, but not to snakes in general. we are keeping them in 78-degree room at the moment, can we wet the substrate? do we need a heat lamp?

will try to upload pictures soon.

You need deli cups or the larger take out food containers
also you need very small plastic cups for water ( i use hot sause cups that come with takeout chicken )
You glue one to the floor of the deli cup and then place a second one in that as the water cup, i use a lid on this one with a hole in it for access. Then paper towel or tissue is used for the floor and as a hide spot.
The small housing helps the hatchling eat sooner ,thats the theory anyway.
The real problem is getting them to eat. I use cut mouse tails and try to slide them in their mouths until they take live pinks or FT brained or scented. Some may never eat and die, others will eat like pigs. You may have to use baby snakes or very small anoles or lizards
