Couldn't tell you what it is, but she changed over a year ago and hasn't turned back to normal color! Pictured with her brother.

Those are both killer projects!..i can hear it now though,"Are you telling me i am going to have to hold back everything for at least two years?"

Would be trippy to breed them into albinos, and then watch the color fall off a year later.

"Would be trippy to breed them into albinos and watch the color fall off a year later."

THAT would be strange. Now there's a project to play with . I wonder what color they'd wind up?

...the first one lost it's yellow..the second one lost it's dark brown pigment ,,overwash

the loss of over wased browns happens to alot of balls every year as they go through ovulations or breeding cycles.they usually turn darker again later...

I have had one lose it's dark color on the rear half of her body ....her back end was yellow......her kids did it too...she is now normal colored again......even darker.....(she laid)

.......the first is sometimes being listed as IMG ball....which is wrong..it didn't increase melanin it lost yellow (xanthine).......

it is cool.......keep it...or send it to Columbia ,Pa.....

as for breeding with albino.......the theory would be it would remove yellow from the albino colors...peobably just the over washed yellow parts ..thus leaving a clean yellow and white (high contrast) albino.maybe a really really nice high contrast..

go for it.......

Thanks for the info....BUT, I only stated that I had a snake in my collection do the same thing- ie: change color after a shed, PERIOD! I also stated that I have no idea what causes it!

OK...a six month old female cycling for breeding? She wasn't even a year old in the pic?!
Bottom line: Sometimes we don't know everything about everything, some of us just can't admit it!!

lol.....I too have noticed that Captain Obvious likes to give his complete opinion on everything.

? and I have noticed that your wisdom for the last week or so is about blue balls hurting ,and taping cans together

.....educate us.........

That was a scathing retort from the Cliff Clavin of the ball forum.

I read these stupid posts really fast..you people don't write books , just bits of stuff...

.ok....6 months old change color .....maybe overfed, underfed, too cold too hot too stupid.you pick a reason.....

...they are all normals..........

..don't worry ....you may grow up a little someday too....but it isn't looking too promising.............

Although this is an extreme example, it is somewhat common for balls under the right undefined conditions to have a dramatic loss of yellow after a shed. To the best of my knowledge none of these has ever proven genetic, but still makes for an interesting snake

Keep it, that guy looks nice, I have never seen anything quite like it. Weather its genetic or not that is one great looking snake that should go any were.

I am going to bring him around the show to see what other opinions I can get on him in person. I guess we wont be selling him for $100 like he was a few days ago.lol
Thanks for all the replies, More pics coming soon including his before pic from 3 weeks ago.

subtleserpents Aug 28, 2006 04:11 PM

Is that YB female you have him for sale with from a proven line? Doesn't look like a YB to me...... Just wondered if it was one of those "hard to tell" YB's? Andy

jnjreptiles Aug 28, 2006 07:53 PM

She is c.h , we have had a few people look at her this weekend and say she was a yellow belly, but I thought about it, and since she is a c.h I dont want to take the chance on it not being one so I am going to hold her back and breed her myself in a year or 2.He is a weird enough snake that he will be cool no-matter what. Thanks
