I saw a thread further down that shows your super sweet rack island for your reptile room. While I have had similar ideas that was just beutiful. Especially the way it can be cliped together.

My question though has to do with your wiring. At first I was jealous of your thermostats because they had a 6 outlet bar. unlike me herpstat that only has a three outlet extesion cord type female end. Then I noticed that each thermostat runs 8 strips of flexwatt. So I am guessing that 2 of these are pluged into the thermostat outlet, then you pluged in a 6 outlet bar to make room for 8. Is this correct? If so, is there a temperature difference between those on the bar and those on the thermostat outlet?

I'm relatively new to flexwatt and thermostats, about 1yr. Before then everything was done the old fashioned way... with lightbulbs. So I still need to figure out what I can and can't do.

Thank you, I am quite proud of how it came out. You are correct, the thermostat has a three outlet connector. Two runs are connected directly to it inside the rack along with the 6 outlet power bar. This way, two runs are always on and the other six can be unplugged if not needed. I have not noticed any mesasurable difference between the shelves beyond normal fluctuations in heat tape. Each side is wired independently of the other. This pic does not show that clearly but you can see where two shelf wires, the thermostat out, thermostat probe and the power block in are hung toward the middle. Those do not go to the other rack. Also, you can see the power cord coming out lower down and going underneath. I'm going to route that to the other end to clean up the wires and not get them under the wheels. I'll put a power block on one rack then plug both racks and the work light into that.
