Fun looking Honduran

blueharlequin Aug 27, 2006 08:38 PM

This one was a fun little surprise. Some neat bleeding of the black stripes going on there. And the pics don't really do it justice but the black is PITCH black and the orange is a deep blood orange on the head, unlike any I've hatched out before. (It's also a 67% het albino.)
This one's mother was from Norm Damm stock and was a sib to some of those crazy aberrant Hondos of his.

(sorry 'bout that last pic, it's not lit very well..)

Not really into Hondurans, but man, I like that one!

What's up with Norm Damm stock? Why don't we see more of it, and who has it?

I often wonder this myself. It may be because he doesn't really do any business online. Last I checked, he doesn't check in on any of the websites and doesn't sell online, though I think I've got an email for him around here somewhere.
He's usually at the MARS show in Maryland, where I hope to see him in a few weeks.

Here's a pic of some of the others from the same clutch, although there's none of the telltale "smearing" of the black, although it does show up in small amounts in some of the others not pictured.

I can't say for sure that this aberrancy is from Norm's stock as i used two males, but it is my first Hond hatchling and at least two of them have this pattern in nearly the same part of the body.

I've known Norm for 20 years. He has no website, but keeps saying that he'll get one called DammHondurans.com. He'll be at the Maryland show next month.

I think part of the problem is that some of that crazy aberrant stuff Norm's produced over the years doesn't seem to be able to be bred in a predictable way (it's not simple recessive). Therefore, he's been unable to have his own "line" of Hondurans.

Norm's been producing Hondurans longer than anyone currently "in the biz."

Wow you've got a great website with some really nice pictures.
I have seen the reddest of the red hondurans attributed to Norm stock, but never seen much else. There's gotta be some of that blood somewhere else by now.
