Question on worming C.B. Tortoises?

cwilder Aug 04, 2003 04:47 PM

Do any of you'll worm your C.B. tortoises? And if so why?
Thanks,
CW

I worm all my CB and WC tortoises once a year at a free worming clinic that my California Turtle and Tortoise Club offers. I look at it as a maintenance issue. My sulcata will sometimes eat my dogs poop if it finds it before I have cleaned it up! Surely this behavior occurs with other species, some of my hatchlings will curiously nibble on their own feces. Eating feces could be a cause for parasite and worm infection. This is why I worm yearly. Some would say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", you have to decide where you fall on the issue.

Thanks tortuga!
I have never wormed any of my tortoises because they are C.B. but it makes sense to go ahead and worm them anyway. Thanks for the input.
