Need a little help guys....

iaherper Aug 27, 2006 10:53 PM

I'm having an issue with 2 of my male SST's...They just started acting funny all of a sudden...They seem very listless, don't flick their tounge very much, and don't even move when I touch them...they almost seem dead until I see their eyes moving and feel them move just a bit...Nothing has changed in the past 3 years I've hed them and the other 70 snakes in the room are all acting perfect...

Whats up?!?!

Thanks, Terry

do you have any boas in the room with the mentioned python(s)?

iaherper Aug 27, 2006 11:55 PM

Yeah...with the exception of this years litters thet are the same boas that have been there since day one....

thers your problem. boas (espescially redtails) are known carriers of IBD. the boas dont show signs but pythons easily catch this disease, espescially the larger snakes (namely burms and retics). For more info on this, contact Kevin @NERD.

Hey,
It's a strange thing you describe, but some blood work on these guys couldn't hurt. Get at least one into the vet before you lose them both.

Hey,
I am very sorry to hear that you lost one of your short-tails. I would look into a vet for possible necropsy. Also look into possible Paramyxovirus.
