To make catching prey easier...

cottonmouth111 Aug 28, 2006 12:17 AM

I've noticed over the years that some of the females do not give a good chase. Leaving the rest to get all of the food. Something I think helps a bunch is to pinch off the crickets back legs. Some might come back with the argument of "this takes some of the crickets nutrients away." Which is understandable but this is a lot better than getting no crickets at all. This leaves them slow and easy to catch. I only do this for the big breeding tanks, not the single..individual geckos. So if one of your leo's is smaller than the rest, make sure it's getting the same amount of food as the others.
Hope I helped somebody!
Sam

When I was still feeding crickets I did cut off the back legs using cuticle sissors LOL It really has virtually no effect on the nutritional value since there legs are basically chitin. I figured it was better, less chitin to digest

Yeah, I pinch off the back legs whenever I feed crickets to my leos. I figure since it is mostly chitin, they would benefit from getting less chitin in there diet.
