Is Boaphile plastics still around?

ucsda Aug 28, 2006 10:17 AM

Is Boaphile plastics still around? I sent in an order last week and the paypal says it's still unclaimed and they wont answer the phone number given on the site? Also, is Precision Caging still around? I would like to order from them now.....thanks for your time.

Their cages are very nice and have many heating options. Plus, they are very responsive in answering emails and phone calls...unlike Boaphile plastics.

ChrisGilbert Aug 28, 2006 01:45 PM

he is busy with babies and cages, but he is still running. It may be a wait for a Boaphile, but it is well worth it. It just goes to show how much in demand the cages are, that they can't be built fast enough.

It is possible he may be having some computer trouble though.

Go to his website and use the phone #, he always answers the phone.. Dan

maizeysdad Aug 28, 2006 04:48 PM

Jeff is very honest about the hours when he answers the phone and the hours when he doesn't. If you trust e-mail, pm, etc. you'll be very dissappointed in Jeff, (which is unfair because he's very upfront about the fact that he hardly checks that stuff).

His reputation is for a product line of the highest quality (I love my Boaphile cages) and for customer service that may try your patience. The trade is worth it. Product exceeds expectations and is worth the extra phone call, or few weeks wait.

In fact, I am he, and I never know exactly what to say when someone posts this sort of thing on the web. I know what I think is going on or at least what could be going on. We handle customer service directly with our customers and not on line. I can tell you that my phone has rung today not less than 20 times and I either answered that phone every time it rang or called the person back that called with minutes of when they called all day. These calls included one call while I was out to eat dinner with my daughters from a concerned customer who was letting me know about this post. The first thing he told me was; there I was answering his call just like every other time he has ever called me. He always calls me during the daytime though. In fact over this short period while I was out to eat, the phone rang six times. Each time I stopped and took the call.

Sometimes, if you think about it, it just seems so ironic that someone makes a post exactly like this one and then immediately there is someone prepared to recommend the competition. We don't do that. We never have and never will. We do not need to. In fact this person who posts wondering if we still exist, says they really want to order from Precision Cages. What's up with that? If you would like to order from Precision cages, why doesn't the post say, since you are unfamiliar with how to find them, "Is Precision Cages still around?" It seems to me like that would make a lot more sense wouldn't it?

Boaphile Plastics is alive and well. Far more well than others apparently. We are building and shipping hundreds of cages and racks every month. Hundreds. In fact I took down my adds running on the caging classifieds because I am so busy I am hoping things will slow down a little bit. Business is very good but the phone still gets answered all day long. If you are someone who really was trying to contact me, please do so at (507) 263-7289 as I answer the phone all day long every week day from at least 9:00 AM till 6:00 PM Central time. Most days I start answering earlier than that and am still answering after that. Try it. Call me anytime during the daytime at (507) 263-7289 and just say, "Hye Jeff! How are you doing! I am just testing you." Then you will see if I answer the phone or if I am a liar. Give it a try, but wait till tomorrow during the day as I am not on the plastic clock right now.

Gerryssscales Aug 28, 2006 08:59 PM

LOL...I know for a fact the Boaphile exist, in fact I called him 5-6X's today and every single time Jeff himself called back within minutes it seemed.

Jeff, I'll be calling you tomorrow as scheduled.
Thanks

I wonder if it has to do with those durned interwebs...

Heh heh. Seems like there are a lot of people now who get very anxious and upset if they email a business and do not get a reply within a few minutes or even within a few hours, and rather than pick up a phone (most people's emails don't "ring" when they are sent...), complain instantly that they "can't get hold of" the business at all. A phone rings - a person who might be cleaning cages or building cages will go and answer it, or hear it ring and return the call within a few minutes - the same person might not check email except once or twice per day (and face it, telemarketers are easy to identify on the phone ... rather than sifting through hundreds of email spam).

I usually use a week as a rule of thumb - if I send an email to a business and does not get responded to within a week after I sent it (AND the reason for contact wasn't urgent enough to need to deal with it in less than a week), I send a followup email and then call a day later if I still get no reply. Yes, people do have email problems. There are so many spam blacklists now that some people's email hosts are automatically blocked by other ISPs (happened to me with Dreamhost). Which makes the phone the most reliable method of QUICK communication.

Also funny that these people posted about non-answered phones at around the same time someone else complained on another reptile forum (boi) that Boaphile doesn't answer his phones. Wonder if it's the same people.

Until he finishes my cages!

Can't wait to get my new cages from you Jeff and your breeding vid.

BTW... Jeff provided me great customer service and from my research, he is THE person to buy enclosures from.

Tony.

rainbowsrus Aug 29, 2006 02:59 PM

Yeah, Jeff can be hard to get ahold of, ONLY if you're trying to get him with email. He's a bit of an "old dawg" and email is definately a "new trick". We've never met but had numerous talks over the phone. He has always taken care of my caging needs and concerns PROMPTLY. Duh, he makes great cages and sometimes DUH, that means you have to wait your turn. That's why I have thousands of dollars invested in his cages and when I need more, I order BEFORE I really need them.

EASY!!!! It's getting him to hang up that's hard. LOL. Jeff has a tendency to be talkative, overly helpful and just plain nice.

I recently ordered a few racks from Jeff and they are excellent. I have tried a couple of the other plastic cage manufacturers and the quality did not compare to the Boaphile plastics. I ordered them in white as apposed to Jeff's favorite color and I thought he was going to have a heart attack (just kidding). On top of that two of the racks were the ball python size polycarbonate tub Rhino Raxx. He had never made them before and said "he would eat the fabrication cost if there was any". Not everyone is willing to do that.

I knew I was going to place my order with Jeff because I already had stuff from him from four years ago which is still in great shape. However, I heard the same thing about him not answering the phone so there was a level of skepticism. But I decided to call him anyway.....at about 8:00 am eastern time to place my order. By the way that is 7:00 am his time. He answered and I proceeded to be my anal retentive self during the ordering process. He didn't even say anything or call me any names. I called him four more times before receiving my cages and he answered every time.

I am very pleased with my cages and have plans to order again. The kids seem to dig them also!

Not the greatest photos but I thought I would share anyway.

Thanks

all three of those Boas are knockouts. Is that all it takes is a crappy Boaphile post to get you to post more photos?...LOL Those are some KILLER animals.....

I agree with Andy, but I am still in love with your Jungle Fem.

If these folks had any brains at all, they would understand that one of the reasons for Jeff's success is that the Boaphile empire was built with honesty and hard work. Jeff would NEVER bash a competitor publicly, or use questionable marketing practices to get buisness!
It's ironic really, that these people sling mud at the one person they should emulate.
The one time I called Jeff and he didn't answer the phone, he called back 15 minutes later.

Jeff yesterday while he was eating! Sorry about that Jeff!

It simply amazes me sometimes that legitimate businesses, especially with the ESTABLISHED reputation that Boaphile has, are not given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to issues like this. I have yet to ever, and I have called Jeff countless times, to not either get him on my first attempt or have him call me back immediately.

I always have to shake my head when someone posts a rather inadequate psuedo-attempt at bashing one of the good guys while referencing a competitor..... Rather transparent don't you think?

Bob

He always will go the extra yard to make sure you are satisfied with cages or animals. Give him a call.
