Why is a vet in business....

Boost Aug 28, 2006 11:17 AM

if he is known as the travelling vet and he won't even come out and do a full check up on my 3 lizards. Talking to him this weekend was a waste of time, his suggestions to any behaviour changes, put them outside in outdoor enclosure's. He made the following suggestions after I had asked him to come out to give my lizards a checkup.

Change the substrate to carpet, nothing, or papertowel.
Place them into kiddie wading pools with a screen over them.

It's obvious that this guy doesn't have a clue about collared's other than they are fast.

Now I have to find a vet that is useful, yeesh what a pain in my butt.

His suggestion to get them outside is a good one, somtimes it really perks them up getting all that fresh air and sunshine. The kiddy wading pool is not a bad idea if you were there to monitor them somewhat.
I would like ot have some nice safe secure cages/enclosures made for outside also.

I don't think it's a very SAFE idea as far as large birds or cats or whatever being able to just knock the screen off and either letting your collareds loose and/or eating them for dinner.

What seems to be going on with them ???

I don't have an issue with his suggestion of have permanent/semi-permanent outdoor enclosures. I just take issue with the fact he wouldn't take the time or make the time to come out and visit the 3 of them. Well with all of the issue's we've been having here with our collared and non-collared friends just wanting to have someone see them.

Bonnie and Clyde have been spending more time underneath their food dish than sunning themselves.

Ommarosa, she's been a little off her feed, but she's been soaked and has spent some time outside today.

I'm just a little peeved that a "professional" doesn't want to take the time to make some money and look at my pets.

I was wondering, you named your lizard Ommarosa, is that like on the TV show "The Apprentice?"

Lol, well actually my stepdaughter initially named the bearded dragons we rescued. As they were "hers" and she would help me take care of them, that lasted ohhh about 3 days. Then she said she wasn't interested in them anymore, like I didn't see that coming.

She named them after the 2 founders of one of her favourite bands at the time, Cedric and Omar. This lasted up until I took a closer look at them both and realized "Omar" was a female. So hence the name change to many variations on "Ommarosa." Plus I would've named a lizard after the Apprentice Ommarsoa if she was particularly nasty and took a finger of mine or two, hehe.

Mine have been sleeping lots recently too, I'm wondering if the fact that the spring was very warm this year and the summer was roasting has anything to do with it.

I know when I spoke to Funky Monkey about it he said his have been doing the same too, maybe they're mixed up about the weather, I dont know about you guys but here in the UK we had really hot weather from May which is unusual and now its almost cold
