Hows Rory doing

DeanBright Aug 28, 2006 12:05 PM

Torey I forgot to ask how Rory's doing. Make sure to post some pictures. I bet she's a big girl now.

Hey! Sounds like you had a fantastic trip!! Can't wait to see pictures.

Rorschach is doing very well - I'm slowly moving her onto sand so she can get used to moving on it. I put a handful in the other day and I swear she was playing in it like a little kid in a sandbox.

She's almost tripled her weight (21g) and gained more than an inch in length since her arrival - she eats like a horse (if horses ate bugs) and is very active. She's also sassy and doesn't like to be held, which is fine - too much escape risk and the cats would eat her in a heartbeat.

Thanks, Eve! I do love her - she's quite the character! Her tank sits near my anole tanks. It's amazing how much more personality she has than they do. I like the anoles, but collareds are SO much more fun!

I remember you saying you were going to get a pair, have you found a male yet?

Actually, I was hoping for another female or two. I don't think I'm prepared to deal with collared eggs. I haven't really looked yet - I know CB collareds are kind of hard to come by this year. I just got really lucky that you live so nearby!!

I was pretty lucky you came and got her, because I wanted to sell her before I went to Australia, and other people who were interested had their hands full.

You said CB collards were hard to come by. If you had babies you could sell CBs.

I call that the "fin lizard" look when they puff up like that. Anoles are too darn cute sometimes.

I have a boy that knows how to fish. I keep a Viquarium set up with guppies in the water, and he eats them along with the crickets I offer.

That's fantastic!! Among my many projects I'm working toward is a re-vamping of all the anole cages. I want to do more elaborate natural vivaria and try water features (though I hadn't considered adding fish!) - I've never done anything that complicated, but I'm excited to try!

My anoles are a bit snotty, they look down their noses at anyone and anything that crosses their path, very funny though.

We got one of those Zoo-med water fountains in with them and they seem to like climbing all over it getting their feet wet, all except the little gravid female that is, she's snottier than all the others put together.

I just switched her completely to sand yesterday and she posed like a little realtor showing off her lovely property.
