MESH FOR UV LIGHT ?

Hi All, I cannot find a deffinate answer to this, i Hve a 2" UV repto2.0 light for my viv, Do i need to put a mesh around it or not?. I have been told by several suppliers that i dont need to as the tube does'nt produce much heat and some say yes as my king could crush it as he is a climber. HELP. any Idea's

p.s if yes what type of mesh is best, having hassle finding some.

You do not need UV light for kingsnakes.

Now if you have it just for display - yes, it is possible the snake can break it resulting in splintered glass that could potentially hurt the snake.

I was advised that ,when the viv is be moved it would be in a darkened corner, so i suppose its really just light for my benifit.

In all honesty - I've never seen it be a problem.
I suppose it could be one, I just haven't seen it happen - those bulbs usually go in pretty securely.
