I just got Certified to ship thru Fed Ex

latin1956 Aug 28, 2006 08:04 PM

I just wanted to share my joy in being able to ship, my snakes thru Fed Ex and not have to lie about anything. I followed the instructions posted here by another fellow member. The total process to 20 calendar days to complete. I tell you what my area rep is great she kept me informed thru the whole process. If anybody wants more info or wants the forms, email me and I will send them to you. Fed Ex paid for the box to be tested and all. So as of today I can ship. I just wanted to share.

Hey Tom,

Congratulation !!! I also want to take your offer and ask for your help in walking me thru the process. I was exploring Delta Air but looks like Fed Ex is easier? Please let me know what your email address is so we can email each other directly.

Thanks a lot !

Hi Ray,

I sent you an email with my email address. I have no problems helping you. I just know that my area rep was very responsive. I hope they all are. I first opened an account thru Fed Ex and it's free, you will have to use a credit card number, you also get 15% discount when you open an account for all your shipments. I will forward to you what I got it's so simple and Fed Ex pays to have your box tested, I mean they pay for shipping and if you want your box back they pay for it also.

Tom

Tom:

Way to go. I did this last year and it really was pretty simple. I can't remember if I sent you the instructions, I've sent them to many people. Sylvia is my rep and she was very helpful. She even calls me every so often (About once every quarter) just to check in to see if shipping is going well and if there have been any problems. FedEx does a great job shipping my snakes and I have never had any serious problems. It's the most convenient way for me to ship because I work across the street from a FedEx shipment and distribution center.

Maybe I did get your instructions. Yes it was very easy and my rep Mindy had kept me informed during the whole process. I will be shipping my first box today and will see how it goes.

Take Care.

I just shipped my first snake to a great customer in Somerset, KY. I sent it overnight express with delivery by 12:30 noon. I was tracking the box on the internet and all was well until
it was about 1pm. The Fed Ex web site showed it being on the truck for delivery, I called Fed Ex and withing 10 minutes I was called back by them and was informed the box was delivered by 11am EST. I asked the Fed Ex rep why was it not showing that on the internet, she said that it being a remote area that the computer would not show that until later in the evening. Well I was sure glad that it got there. The customer called me later to let me know that the snake was fine and that it looke better in person than in pictures. It was a Irian Jaya.

Sorry fo the long post but I just wanted to share and hope the customer service with Fed Ex stays this way and it only improves..

I have a couple questions for you if you don't mind:

Do you have to be a "bussiness" instead of just a hobbyist with occassional excess offspring or an interesting animal to send to a friend?

Is the box marked To avoid any kinds of technical problems like Lacey violations?

Thanks.

I am just a hobbyist! In the legal papers it said to ship to only bussiness address. But I hardly think they will give you any problems shipping to a residence. You do have to ship overnight express and they will no accept any responsability if the animal dies.

The box is marked "Perishables Handle With Care" That is all!
