Aspen beeding and feeding

So i just switched some of my collection to aspen again do to ease of cleaning however tonight when i was feeing i coldnt help but notice small pieces of aspen getting stuck to the rats. how bad is this for the snakes?

I've had small king snakes die from swallowing some aspen. Josh of J & K Reptiles had a small ball get a piece stuck in the roof of its mouth. This led to a bad oral infection with weeks of abts and poor weight gain for months. Wouldn't recomend it for small snakes.

i just read about aspen bedding in the barkers new book and they use it for all there snakes and never had a issue. in fact they even seen some snakes eat a small amount of it with there food and never any issuies. i also use it and highly reccomed it.
