Power Loss

peterinsano Aug 29, 2006 05:43 AM

So Hurricane Ernesto is on his way, and naturally the lizard situation has been on my mind a bit.

I have plenty of friends with generators who I can plug into if we lose power, but I was just curious, between the lack of AC to take out humidity and the possible lack of heat for a few days, at what point should I be concerned for his health?

I'm sure I'll get him some power within a day of the hurricane passing, but I'm just wondering how big of a deal it is to not have heat for a few days.

Maybe just a cloudy day in the desert for him?

If your Uro is currently he will be ok. If you have no heat source for him though don't offer him food if he happens to come out that day. They need to get thier body temps up to digest food.

I wouldn't worry. Uros are not fragile lizards. In their home environs, fronts & unexpected weather patterns come thru just like here. They didn't survive millions of years by being knocked off course by a summer "cool-spell." As long as they're healthy going into it, they should do fine. As I've said before, they're tougher than you are & tougher than you think they are.

Well it turned out to be a pretty lousy storm.
We barely saw any wind and rain excluding a maybe a few hours, but either way, the power is still running.

Thanks for the help, guys.

Last month I lost power for a week. The uros were fine, although they sure were hungry when the power came back on. Not that there was anything remotely edible left in my fridge... yuck!
It would be a different story in winter.
glad this storm is just over-hyped. It's gonna hit my area tonight.
