taming essy --

boubayen Aug 04, 2003 05:52 PM

My husband and I rescued an iguana a few days ago-our first. She was poorly feed, no heat lamp, habitat to small-she didn't even have a name. She does seem healthier than many of the rescue pictures I've seen. We're getting together supplies to build a much larger habitat and we've improved her diet. So far we've only been opening her habitat to clean it and feed her. We were trying to go slowly with her because we don't think they ever really tamed her much. Yesterday, she finally looked like she was relaxing. Today she has been very active for the first time. She has also started closing her eyes when I approach the habitat, and finally, a few minutes ago she started really scratching at the plexi-glass door. What does this mean? should we start touching her? Is she just restless?

I would take it slow. Give Essy a couple of weeks to get used to you and your home. Do u have UVB and heating?

We will after tonight. We've had him a few days and had a major issue with our bank accnt. but all is well and were going after hubby is off work. we put him in a really sunny window and he has been basking some. and house temp has been mostly in the 80's I know it's not ideal- but were fixing it soon. he's doing the happy iguana sleeping position (with the arms back) now going to get some sort of mister as well.
