Depends on who you talk too...
People with little knowledge in the actual history and importation of nelsoni and sinaloan would say yes. But those who actually studied and were there ..Bob Applegate , Dave Barker etc..would probably say no..that most nelsoni in US colletions are actually decendents of sinaloans including the 1st albino's..when sinaloans were 1st imported they were mostly seperated due to band counts only, ..many were collected in the intergrade zone and most were probably natural intergrades(east of Mazatlan,Sinaloa, Mexico)later(@1978) this area which was formely known as nelsoni territory was renamed sinaloan territory( after most of the imports..LOL), this why sometimes even with "pure" strains you still hatch out 17-22 triad animals along side 11 triad specimens. Through trait breeding we now have two distinct "types" nelsoni and sinaloae. When the 1st striped was produced by Tad Fitzgerald they were keyed out as sinaloans..but others keyed them out as nelsoni..who's right? My take is there all sinaloans.
Hope I don't offend anyone with this, but I do believe it to be accurate since this knowledge was gained 1st hand by some of the most respected breeders in the industry. There's a great short article written by Applegate that explains this, you can find it in Vivarium Volume 10 Number 6 page 44.
