Breeding 4 ft .female bci ?

ReBall1 Aug 29, 2006 08:58 PM

Hi all,
Has anyone ever bred a 4 ft. female bci? I have an 03 het albino female thats only 4ft. and she wont grow longer no matter how much she eats. I feed her pretty heavyly compared to the other animals her age and she is thick and muscular but just not very long. I have already decided not to try her for 06/07 but If she is only 4 ft. next year I may do it. Any suggestions? Thanks Rich

do you know if there could be any dwarf blood in your boa ? if there is it probably wont grow much bigger anyway ,and some of the female dwarfs are fine to breed at this size , do you have any photos of it ?

I have a female that is a new morph type I have been waiting to prove that isn't big either.. I kept thinking she was an 03 because of her size even though I have had her since she was a new born, but it turns out she is an 02. I was reminder of this after talking with the guy who originaly produced her.. She is all of 5 ft eats well, feeds on the same sized rodents my females of the same age do.. (they are 6-7ft) The guy who produced her lost the original adults and wants me to produce with her...LOL...

At this point I have come to the conclusion she is not going to get big, some boas just don't.. She is mature, so I am going to give it a try this season.

You positive its a female ?
If so she should be properly conditioned for breeding, often times many are not ! Regardless of age or size.

Best Of Luck !

I have an 02 Hypo female that reached her current size about 2 years ago (she measures in a bit over 5') she produced a litter 3-29 this year. Some as mentioned by others just don't get very big. I was hesitant to put a male on her but with her build and since she hadn't grown in length for over a year I decided to give it a shot. Good luck what ever you decide to do.

Hey guys,
Heres the only pic I got of her(as a baby). I got her sister also who is long and lean, about 5 1/2- 6 ft. and she is short and stout. She has always looked well muscled even as a baby. I gotta go back to bed I'm sick as a dog right now.. Take care Rich
