Okeetee Corn snake size

JL1981 Aug 29, 2006 09:22 PM

I am looking to get an okeetee corn snake, but I dont really want a snake over 4 feet. Do the males or females get larger?
Also, can a big corn snake give a bad bite?

Corn snakes are great pets. I love them. In my experience Corn snakes can get over 4 ft. in length, with the males being slightly larger. If you know a breeder you may be able to see or ask how large the parents of a hatchling are. It may give you some idea of how large the corn may get...but, that is a question only time can tell. I know you said you wanted an Okeetee, but you could look at a Miami phase. I think they are slighly smaller.

Any animal with a mouth can bite, but a corns bite (infrequent if ever) is mild.

Sorry. I'm new to the boards and thought I'd jump in...

I have a male Okeetee that measures 5'3". He is a sweet snake. Never bites unless there is a rat around!!! You can't generalize about snakes. I have two Abbott Okeetee yearlings that are demon possessed!!!! I get bit everytime I open their cage and it isn't just a feeding response!!! But it's no big deal! If you are worried about getting bit best not get a snake get a snake cause sooner or later you are going to get tagged!!!!
