juvenile Red Headed Agama

GillesD Aug 30, 2006 09:03 AM

Hi, I have been given what appears to be a Red Headed Agama (agama agama, Pics).

Does anybody else have juvenile Red Headed Agama? I'ld like to be able to compare pictures to be 100% sure on the species and provide proper housing (at this moment: plastic container, ca. 60cm*35cm*20cm ( or: 24"*14"*11" ) with a 40W broad spectrum daylight lamp above one side of it (not sure about basking temp though), a hiding spot, a water dish and a piece of vineyard wood underneath the lamp).

As soon as I'm positive on the species, I can look for better housing.

Another question : based on the Pics, what age do you guess? Are there any exterior physical traits that would allow me to define sex yet?

Thanks a lot,

Gilles

Or is it such a rare lizard? Or is just nobody concerned on keeping it in captivity as some continents seem to be so populated with it? Can it easily be found in specialised reptile shops, because would like to find one of the opposite sex (once defined) to try and breed them?

Thanks for all the info,

Gilles
