Could be an Albig Arg.tegu or dog tame?

tiger1 Aug 30, 2006 10:55 AM

Hello guys!

What about the tame of an albi? Could be an albi so tame like an Argent. tegu or dog-tame,if I handle him every day for a few hours?
And if he came from a wild caught (I don't know exactly it's true or not), should I do anything others (like the captive-breed monitor) with my albi, mainly in the first period after I bought him?

Appreciate any aswers.

But then you must consider dogs bite and injure people all the time. In fact, more people are killed by dogs in the states, then all the monitor caused deaths in the entire world. I will venture to say, more people are killed by dogs in a year, then all the varanid caused deaths in the entire history of civilized man. So in reality, monitors are far tamer then dogs.

Besides the fact that monitors are not dogs, in fact, they are not mammals. Monitors are not domesticated either. About the only thing they have in common is, humans, and most likely dogs and Albigs could live on the same diet. So to compare them is very very very very very very very naive.

I really hate to be mean or whatever you guys want to call me, but, if you have to ask these types of questions, then you most likely are not ready for keeping this type of animal. Please consider doing lots of reading first, then doing lots of research, then keeping some smaller and easier, then work your way up to something like an albig.

Please consider, these comments are for the benefit of the monitor. As its the poor thing in the cage. So take my advice, do not put a potentially large monitor in a small cage and dwarf it, so it will not outgrow the cage. Cheers

Drop through a hole in the street when you walk out your front door? Yes, it could happen, it does happen, but chances are it doesnt.
So, I hope this answered your question, that is if you mean friendly, in a healthy manner, not dominated, and helpless as most monitor that are thought to be "tame" are. I have a very tame monitor, she is one of several that range from accepting of my presence to disliking any presence of a human, most fall somewhere in between or at the disliking end in reality.

If you have "made a tame monitor before" why ask? I have a feeling this post was more about looking for approval rather than the truth. When you ask all over the internet and get opinions from many people, then decide by how many have answered in approval or how many are against it, this demonstrates how much experience or knowledge you have on this subject, who needs someone elses approval? If so ask your parents. I hope next time you might type in a way much easier to understand.
