A LOST FAMILY FRIEND,in need of help...

Novice_Charmer Aug 30, 2006 02:57 PM

I have been lurking around these forums for a couple years off and on and decided to come here to ask the experts first. My very first reptile,a Burm, that I ever owned (since 98) has gone A.W.O.L. I don't have the first idea where to look, since this has never happened before.A local pet store "expert" says they are ground dwellers so look low.The only problem I have with this is that the few times that she has been loose INSIDE the house I have always found her on TOP of things,(cabinets, fridge, shelves, etc.)I have looked everywhere I can think of,with no luck.Unfortunately I live in south Florida and we are surrounded by vegetation full of animals for her to feed on (some wild some not) and a huge lake occupied by gators, which I guess means I will never see her again.I don't mind saying that the thought of her out here fending for herself disturbs me greatly.ANY ideas from anyone would be appriciated at this point,as I have run out of ideas.I'm sure I am opening myself to flaming here but I will take the good with the bad,I am very concerned with her safety.I have had her almost 10 years and this is a first time, hence my lack of experience in this instance.Thanx for taking time out to read my first post,I just wish it were under better circumstances.

Was her cage inside or outside? If inside, unless you have open windows without screens or you're in the habbit of leaving the doors open, chances are she's still inside somewhere.

If outside, all I can say is look for ANY good hiding places near your house. And I'll risk sounding like a jerk and point out that this is one of the reasons it's a bad idea to have a cage outside unless it's REALLY secure.
