Darts mixed in display at zoo

Recently went to the Milwaukee Zoo, nice zoo. The had 3 different species of darts in the same, small tank (about 16x16x24). One (and forgive my ignorance on the names of the different species) was a green and black, one was a burgandy and black, and one was a larger dark blue with yellow.

What is up with that? I thought that different ones shouldn't be kept together? They seemed to be in a "stance" almost in a triangle to each other (pieces of tree etc between). Almost looked like they were defending their area?

I have red eyes so forgive my ignorance if that is ok, I just thought I'd read that it was bad.
