I like to go with a fairly natural schedule of one appropriate sized rodent (enough to cause a small bulge after eating), then wait for a defecation and feed again. This will usually work out to once every 5-7 days for juvies and 7-14 days for adults. My adult CA's usually eat about every other week. YMMV.

I recall you saying they were being shipped ?
If so.....
Let them settle in for at least a week,as in put them in a cage and dont touch them !!Offer a small meal and let them continue to chill for a week.
Week 3
Offer a larger prey item then previous, then continue this routine for another 3-4 weeks(feeding every 7 days)
Good regular home cooking never hurt anything !!
Monitor shed and defication progress thru out etc,etc,etc.....
Being adults(as I recall) cut them back to 2 X Month feedings and they should do fine.

Just dont rush them and they'll live and possibly produce for you
for many years to come.

I ment how much should i feed an adult every 2 weeks??

BillyBoy Sep 01, 2006 08:21 AM

They look fantastic! Congrats on acquiring them. Dependig on their size, you should feed them one prey item that leaves a slight bulge for a day or so. For my 4 year old, 5 foot adults, that translates to one lg/xl rat every two weeks. My female is still putting on weight from giving birth a couple of months ago, so she gets fed a little more often than my male.

Thanks Billy!!

What does this mean lg/xl?? My adults are a little over 5.5 F

The person i bought them from fed them every week an adult rat.
Is that to much every week one rat??
I'm planning to feed them evey 2 weeks an adult rat.

Thanks!

That means a large or extra large rat. I think what you are planning is a great place to start. After a few months, you will get a feel for what your invidivual snakes' metabolisms are like by how often they defecate and shed as well as their overall appearance (should hopefully be solidly muscled with no loose skin, but no skin showing through their scales either). You may end up adjusting their regimens depending on the time of year also. It's really just about getting to know your animals. Good luck with them and keep the pics coming!
