Hi,
I have (3) 3-toed box turtles. I usually dig up earthworms from the garden for them, and find snails. However, I would like to buy some worms at Petco, to supplement when I have trouble finding the ones in my yard. Which worm is best to feed them, that I can readily buy from Petco, which is closeby to me.

Thanks, Janice

Well as far as earthworms, you're pretty much limited
to whatever petco has. Mine usually has "fishing worms"
that come in a cup that says "bait" on it.

Have you ever tried "superworms"? They aren't
really a worm, like an earthworm. They are beetle
larvae, similar to a really huge mealworm.

All of my turtles love them and they are easy to keep.

I actually get mine at Walmart, Kmart, Gander Mountain, etc. I believe Walmart has them all year round, but I'm not sure of the other places. I believe they're 2.49 for 24 of them. I used to work at Petco, and after that experience I avoid the place if at all possible... :P

Try your local fishing bait stores. I get mine from there. They often carry waxworms which I use as an occasional treat. I use nightcrawlers and redwords. They seem to prefer the nightcrawlers over the redworms, but when they are hunger they'll eat just about anything.
