How much to Feed

TwoFemaleRES Aug 31, 2006 08:18 PM

Ok, I have asked the vet, I have asked other owners, I have asked the pet store people, I have read the containers, I have read things online.

How much and how often of the Reptomin floating food sticks should I feed two turtles whose shells measure 6-7 inches in length? I need to know in cup measurement (e.g., 1/4 cup every other day or 1/8 cup every day or 1/2 cup every third day). Also, they eat together at the same time if this makes a difference.

I am always fearful or over or under feeding.

Thanks!

I say feed it about just a half a table spoon for each turtle. I say it's better to be a little bit underfed than overfed if you're not sure. it all depends on the turtle. If he looks as if he is getting fat from your regular feeding regiment, I would cut back on the food until he is loosing some weight. You can tell if the turtle when they can't retract complete all of their body parts inside there shell at the same time, and they'll be flap of skin hanging out of the side of the shell where the legs are.

So 1/2 TBS Each once a day then? So in other words, drop into their tank 1 TBS of food each day? If so, this is such a relief to finally get something definite!

they should be feed every other day and they can be feed together. Give them some food and see how long it takes. It should take at least a good 5 minutes if not give them more.
