Live babies!!

mets38 Sep 01, 2006 07:56 AM

Last year my plains had 6 still born babies. 4 normals, 1 nebraska albino and 1 red albino. This year she had 11 live babies! 5 normal, 4 nebraska, and 2 red albinos.
I just had a couple of questions about feeding.(They are all eating rosie reds for me now)

How often should they be fed?
When do I try to switch them to pinkie parts?

Thanks in advance and any other info pertaining to caring for babies would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi and congratulations on your babies! What morphs are the adult male and adult female that produced the offspring I would feed the babies every 3-4 days. They can be switched to pinky parts at any point too. What I do to switch them over is to place torn up pinkies in with the fish. If the snake takes the mice parts, then the next meal try just the mice parts. If it takes them, continue until they are large enough to handle a runt pinky. If they don't take the unscented, place the parts back in w/ the fish. Eventually they will be weaned off.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Scott

Scott,
The adults are double het plains I got from you 3 years ago! I got them for my son but they ended up becoming "mine" and at the time I didn't even know they were het for anything. After last year it was really exciting to have the live babies. The still borns that she had last year were really big compared to these.
Thanks for the info!!
