crickets last how long?

bakeaway Sep 01, 2006 02:20 PM

I am a snake owner and am getting my first bearded dragon. My snakes eat about once a week, and I know I need to feed the dragon more frequently.I was wanting to know if crickets usually last a few days or a week alive? Since I pick up my snake food once a week will I be able to do that with the crickets?
Thanks....

Crickets can live 6-8 weeks from hatchlings. The key to keeping them alive like most insects is heat, food, and water. Water being the biggest issue because crickets need lots. You should provide a varied diet with vegitation and other insect to your bearded. Mealworms, silkworms, and roaches are other popular feeders.

I have one dragon and buy crickets 500 at a time mailorder. Grnated some will die but its way more economical and they last about 3 weeks. For the same price I would only get about half the amount from a pet store. Also I get to control their diet better and they seem bigger and healthier fron the supplier as opposed to the pet shop. I get mine from big apple herp check it out.

Juv's need protein and some veggie matter. Mine wasn't really into veggies until he was 2 1/2. But, it was always offered. I still go through about 80-100 large crickets a week with him.
