WV ROAD RAT RESCUE UPDATE

Hello Rat Fans!

The long-awaited, much-anticipated, keep-my-fingers-crossed-lord-I-pray-it-happens this time moment has arrived!

My Rescued West Virginia Black Rat ate her first mouse today!
She accepted a F/K mouse with no hesitation.

To capture the moment, I took several photos, which didn't bother her one bit (no pun intended). Presented for your viewing pleasure are pics of eating, stretching, stepping out, and a portrait.

Best Regards,

John DeMelas

Black rats are one of my true loves. I learned a lot from them through the years. Mostly how to make a cage escape proof.

Heard that!

She's already found her way out once. I think I've plugged that leak. Who knows what she'll find next?

That shot of her half out is where she was when I turned my head for 2 minuites to logon the KS! It was a better pose than I can usually get out of a snake.

Jeff

Thank You, Sir.

As it happens I lived for a precious few years in WV. I met my wife there back in '84. In '87 we moved to Tennessee, which is a great place - but its not WV. Last October, she went to her final rest on top of a moutain near her Mom's homestead up yonder holler.

I was visitin' back in July, when I found young Ms. Elaphe obsoleta obsoleta, looking for all the world like road kill. Well, she turned out to be alive, but hurt, so I took her home. Since then I've named her Roberta, after my Sweet Little Country Girl I miss so much.

God Bless,
