Carolina Red Pigmy Breeding Tips

Gsc Sep 01, 2006 04:44 PM

I'm about to invest in a small group of adult red pigmys and was wondering if anyone had any breeding tips. The only info I found was the article by willybigsnakes ( http://www.venomousreptiles.org/articles/168 )... I'm gonna pick the guys head when I purchase the animals at his methods but was wondering if y'all have anything to throw in.

A few years back I tried raising a few newborns and FAILED miserably... I have local access now to small 5 lined skinks to start them off on...

I've always loved the species and enjoy the challenge of something new...my collection has been sized down drastically and these days so I'll have the time to put the extra effort in!

Happy herpin'

Babies will start on hyla frogs and baby five-lined skinks, but red-backed salamanders work the best...who knew.

Breeding is in the fall. Toss em together several times starting in August through October.

They're pretty easy and will breed for consecutive years.
