A couple locality kings..

foxturtle Sep 01, 2006 05:30 PM

These are two female kings I bought from Lindsay Pike last month. They are from stock that originates in Pinellas County, FL, and are thought to be floridana/getula (florida/eastern king) intergrades. I think its cool that this locality is still being bred, as kings aren't really found in Pinellas County anymore (I live there, I should know).

I selected this one for its red coloration:

And this one for its thin bands.

Cool. How about a comparison pic with the one you found earlier this year near GH?

Foxturtle...those are really good looking kings. It is amazing how much they change by just crossing Tampa Bay. Kings are still found though in northern Pinellis just west of the race track..but they probably won't be for long.
