Question re Bicinctores

kellybee Sep 02, 2006 10:01 AM

Hey there, I was excited beyond belief this morning when I walked into the aquatic centre to find a pair of sub adult Bicinctores. They were bith fat and running around like maniacs, no sign of mites, the male has a wonky tail but its cute, and they were eating well (Actually the male was trying to kill a piece of dry sphagnum moss), HOWEVER......

The little boy had a black patch on his belly which reached round towards his legs. It doesnt look like a sore or anything, but like black or very dark pigmentation, as though its meant to be there. My Easterns are pale underneath, is this normal?

I dont want to buy something thats not well and might cross contaminate my existing pair. Answers on a postcard, if they're healthy I dont want someone else to pip me to the post !!

Lol, Its the Vestigiums really, I like them but I prefer the ones without such fat tails and butch bodies. They remind me of WWE wrestlers, lol. Sadly I have to wait for a bigger viv now, which will be better for all our reptiles. This way the collared vivs will be 6 inches longer and 6 higher and 6 deeper. I'm upset I have to wait but I'd rather do that than spend the money on a new smaller viv and not be able to afford the big one. This way everyone will be even happier than they already are

as though they will be very NICE indeedy, LOL it's hard to wait for awesome things hehhehee, but sometimes it makes more sence. As far as vestigium, (Butch bodies and fat tails) I'm gonna SMACK YOU ON THE HEAD WITH A BAG OF CRICKETS,

LMAO..... hehhehehe Oh they are gorgeous , especially in person

ROFL,

I DO like em Eve, please dont be mad at me !!!!!

I just like the Collaris shape, they were my first, and will always be my favourites.

The Vestigiums are very pretty too though, I like them but I like the Collaris more.

If its any consolation my all time faves are the Dickersons and they're the same group , closely followed by the Texican (Not MEXican) coloureds........ I would gladly own Vestigiums if they were available here, but until then a new viv and a pair of Westerns will suffice

I hope you've put the crickets back down now, again very sorry, lol

You were so sweet in your explanation I have put down the bag of crickets, LOL. All Collareds are beautiful!

Just messin with ya Kelly. Your fun, even though you say WEIRD stuff that none of us ever heard of, ahahhahahahahaa LMAO

Answers On A Postcard, hehehehheheheee

Glad I make you laugh, I think we all needed a giggle yesterday, you gave me mine

kellybee Sep 05, 2006 02:43 AM

But I went back into the shop yesterday and asked if they can get any more bicinctores, they said no, they cant. They did, however say they could take a deposit and hold them for me...... I explained it might be three to four weeks before our new vivs arrive.... He said he would take a payment of £10 to cover the cost of feeding them and will put them in the back room for me. Wowsers what a nice guy !!!

I didnt pay a deposit as all my spare cash has gone toward the vivs but if they're still there at the weekend when I get paid then they're mine all mine. Woohoo!!!

I hope they are still there this weekend. I'd like to see you own some bicinctores so you too can fall in love

I did go in to check the sex of them yesterday, I couldnt remember if they both had black throats and bellies or just the one. The guy in the shop is honest about the fact that he is only temporarily looking after the reptiles while they recruit, so he didnt know when I called.

Apparently they are CB, they have a policy on not keeping WC animals, but I'm not sure this is true, the little female is vicious! Teeth at the ready mouth wide open, she was not a happy little lizard. Only a few more days, I cant wait! New viv is officially being ordered today so now I feel like a kid on christmas eve

"Answers on a postcard, if they're healthy I dont want someone else to pip me to the post !!"

I can't figure out what you mean by this. Are you afraid someone might get 'em first? Go ahead and pick them up! They sound great by your description. As Eve said, those black patches are normal.

ROFL, "Answers on a postcard" is like a competition, we brits say it a lot, you hear it on TV show competitions, maybe you dont use that phrase in the states. As for the rest, thats a metaphor like a horse race... You're right I dont want someone else to buy them before I do.

kellybee Sep 03, 2006 07:29 AM

Well we are now having a shift around of our reptiles, we currently have the anoles in the kitchen, the scorpions and tarantula and piranha's in the lounge and the collareds in the back bedroom.

Rather than buy yet another setup for more collareds we are gonna get a 7ft x 7ft x 2ft stack system with one long viv on the bottom for a monitor lizard, two x 3.5 ft's (For my collared, YAY) on the next level, some little vivs on the next level for the inverts and two or three smaller ones on the top for the anoles and whatever else.

This means i got to wait for my new collareds (I cried like a baby this morning, spoilt 27 year old brat that I am ), maybe until after christmas but it will be worth it to have them all together in the lounge. Goodness only knows where we'll put the fish tank, but I'm sure we'll find somewhere
