Hello,

Sorry, I don't have a pic of how my Egyptians are set up, but I will say this (please take NO offense). 'Greek' torts (along with Egyptians) can carry some VERY nasty diseases including herpes. I would strongly suggest that you never keep anything with an Egyptian other than one of it's own kind (hopefully another healthy one). Egyptians are FAR too rare to potentially expose to a more 'common' tort like a Greek. Hope that makes sense and does not come out wrong. Basically, do everything in your power to 'protect' an Egyptian from ALL other torts.
Matt
I know not to mix species and stuff, i already have a enclosure for the egyptian, i was just wondering if anyone has done it. I am against mixing species, i dont even have my ornate box turtles with my 3 toeds, lol. I was not planning on housing them together, just wondering if it would be bad, since i read they are from same area.
Either way, back to the egyptian, i was wondering what everyone uses for substrate, i read a lot of things, but its always good to here what works good with other breeders.
PS, no offence takin, im acctually glad to here the answer of not mixing, i read a lot of post that would acctually support it.
I prefer to use sand/topsoil mix about 60/40 mix. It works great and they love it, good for absorbing heat and keeping the humidity low in the enclosure.Remember to use something to place under feed plate to discourage the chance of getting the sand in there food.I use a 12" x 12" piece of ceramic tile.
My 4 year old male CB Egyptian lives outside about 6 months out of the year in this pen with 3 Hermanns. I kept him by himself when I 1st got him & felt sorry for him because he never did anything. Once he was put outside with a Hermanns, he became a totally different creature. He's a little tank & is my favorite tortoise of the 8 I keep (3 Russians, 3 Hermanns, 1 cherryhead, & 1 Egyptian).
